Veteran Gospel Radio Announcer, Promoter and Gospel VJ, Jamie Thomas received the President’s Award for his outstanding contribution towards the advancement and development of Caribbean Gospel Music during the 2014 Music Marlin Awards held on Saturday July 26th at the Diplomat Center in Nassau, Bahamas. Hailing from the island of Trinidad & Tobago, Jamie has over twenty (20) years of experience in radio, television, promotions, production and the entertainment industry.

In 1995 Jamie was hired by Trinidad & Tobago Media Mogul, Louis Lessing and Tony Less where he afforded the opportunity to pioneer urban gospel radio. He introduced Christian hip-hop, reggae, contemporary and dance music via his Sunday morning show called “Positive Vibes” on the secular urban station 98.9FM. He has also worked at several other top radio stations in Trinidad including Love 94FM and I95.5FM where he launched “The Perfect 10”, another pioneering initiative which pushed gospel music and ministry. Jamie’s career and influence in radio extended beyond his native Trinidad & Tobago where for several years he served as the radio announcer for Heaven 97FM based in the Cayman Islands.

Jamie has also served as an Assistant Director for the movie “Home Again” which was filmed in Trinidad and Tobago and featured international actors like Tatyana Ali of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Lyric Bent of Saw and CCH Pounder of the box office smash Avatar. He has also directed music videos for a number of well known and award winning artists like Nigel Lewis J Prince, David Matas and several others.

In 2006, Jamie was hired by MTV TEMPO to serve as the producer and host of a new TV Show called “Rise and Shine”. This new venture created the creative platform for him to cover and host major music events throughout the Caribbean including Anguilla, Barbados, Cayman Island, Jamaica, Dominica, St.Lucia, St. Martin and the Bahamas. He is presently serving as the manager and program director at W107.1FM the Word, considered the number one Urban Gospel Radio Station in Trinidad & Tobago.
